Three Chapman Taylor projects shortlisted for the 2025 Northern Design Awards

Chapman Taylor is delighted to announce that three of our projects have been shortlisted at the 2025 Northern Design Awards, recognising excellence in design across the UK. The shortlisted schemes span workplace and leisure sectors, reflecting the creativity, design quality and client-focused approach delivered across our studios.

Our finalists include:

  • 5 Callaghan Square, Cardiff – Interior Design: Office Space £1m+
  • 3 Arlington Square, Bracknell – Interior Design: Office Space £1m+
  • Napoleons Casino Leeds – Interior Design: Restaurant/Dining £1m +

Competing in the Interior Design – Restaurant/Dining £1m category, this 814m² interior refurbishment for A&S Leisure reimagines Napoleons Casino Leeds as a sophisticated and atmospheric entertainment venue. Influenced by the city’s cinematic heritage, the design combines warm textures, dramatic lighting and crafted detail, including a curved brass-fronted bar as the focal point. The layout enhances customer flow while delivering an elegant environment for gaming, dining and socialising.

Shortlisted in the Interior Design – Office Space £1m+ category, this Cat A+ refurbishment transforms a 954m² office floor into a premium, hospitality-led workspace. The design emphasises openness, daylight and flexibility—replacing cellular layouts with collaborative zones, integrated breakout space and a striking social hub that greets visitors on arrival. Sustainability is embedded throughout the scheme, from material reuse to low-energy lighting and reduced carbon interventions. Since completion in 2025, the space has been hailed by the client as “the best in the Cardiff market”.

Also shortlisted for Interior Design – Office Space £1m+, this workplace transformation repositions an existing office building as a contemporary campus-style destination. Completed in 2025, the scheme introduces a revitalised reception, vibrant business lounge and new outdoor amenities including a landscaped courtyard, self-contained gym pod and padel court. The design encourages wellbeing, collaboration and a stronger sense of community for occupiers within the wider Arlington Square business campus.

Now in its 23rd year, the Northern Design Awards celebrate outstanding design talent from across the Midlands, North of England and Scotland. Entries showcase innovation and design excellence across architecture, interiors and landscaping.

The winners will be announced at the awards ceremony on Thursday 13th November 2025, held at the magnificent Manchester Cathedral. We look forward to celebrating alongside fellow finalists, judges and industry peers on what promises to be an inspiring evening of Northern design.

Congratulations to everyone involved in these projects and to our clients and collaborators who helped bring them to life.
