Chapman Taylor’s interior designs for residential developments combine creative flair with a sense of humility, recognising the fact that people will live in the environments that we create. We ensure that our interior schemes are attractive and context-appropriate, always rooted in a strong sense of place and identity. Below, we take a look at some of our worldwide interior design schemes for residential projects of various typologies.
Bay Villas & Bay Apartments, Koh Phangan, Thailand
The Bay Villas development, along with the under-construction Bay Apartments scheme, forms the basis of the first luxury residential hospitality development on the tropical island of Koh Phangan. The residences are set on a lush hillside among coconut groves.
Each villa offers either 233m² and 433m² GBA of combined indoor and outdoor space. Carefully designed to give them unobstructed sunset sea views, the development blends harmoniously with its tropical surroundings.
The apartments will contain spacious open-plan kitchens and lounges along with generous bedrooms and en-suite bathrooms. Communal facilities will include an infinity edge swimming pool, an outdoor lounge area and a fitness suite.
Chapman Taylor acted as Lead Architect and Interior Designer for the projects, forming part of a wider masterplan – the main buildings for which are now in use.
MediaCityUK, Manchester, UK
This private villa residence on the island of Koh Phangan was designed in a contemporary and minimalist way, with cubist influences.
The clean and modern material palette has a tropical accent, helping to harmonise the interior scheme with the beautiful exterior setting.
MediaCityUK, Manchester, UK
MediaCityUK is the most significant media development that the UK has seen in decades, becoming home to the BBC and ITV as well as the University of Salford’s Media Faculty, the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra and over 200 creative, digital and tech support SMEs. The completed first phase of the project includes 380 apartments, a 200-key hotel, speculative office buildings, a site-wide tri-generation energy centre, retail and catering outlets and a multi-storey car park. MediaCityUK is the world’s first BREEAM Sustainable Community, integrating pioneering sustainable design across the entire site.
Phase two of the MediaCityUK development comprises 1,800 private sale and Build-to-Rent city apartments and townhouses, 55,000m² of additional office space, retail and leisure uses and a sequence of new public spaces.
Chapman Taylor acted as Lead Architect for phase one of this £500m project, and is continuing to work with Peel Media and L&G Capital as the masterplanner for phase two, and on building designs which include 1,800 further residential units and more office buildings. MediaCityUK won the Regeneration Project of the Year award at the MIPIM UK Awards, 2015.
Büyükyalı, Istanbul, Turkey
A residential-led, mixed-use scheme in a spectacular location on the coastline of the Marmara Sea, Büyükyalı is an attractive and sustainable place to live for families, single people and young couples who wish to enjoy the benefits of Istanbul.
Büyükyalı makes a clear division between public and private space – layering a broad range of uses and facilities, including 1,500 homes with prime sea views and 15,000m² of public space incorporating fashion, culture, art, music, kids clubs, a hotel, restaurants and a new marina.
Chapman Taylor is the Principal Design Architect for the project.

London House, London, UK
Chapman Taylor gave each of the rooms in this house a distinct identity. Establishing a theme for each room meant that we could create a unique interior for each space and for the house as a whole, so that it had variety but also harmony.
The entrance hall was set up as a gallery, where posters collected from trips to exhibitions around London could be hung. It also acts as a unifying space across the various floor levels. Th bedrooms all have separate themes too – the London room, for example, mixes objects that are designed by famous British designers, such as the Vivienne Westwood-designed rug, with a very British palette of red, white and blue for its colour scheme.

With a design concept inspired by the area’s unique natural and cultural surroundings, The Cove aims to capture the relaxed way of life to be found on Koh Phangan – a simple lifestyle which centres on what is essential.
Five luxury residences are being provided within 3,000m² of landscaped grounds, each reflecting a calm, relaxing and minimalist approach to life. The architecture and interior design incorporate subtle details which pay homage to local culture and the surrounding environment.
Chapman Taylor’s Bangkok studio was responsible for the concept design of these luxurious, yet understated, island residences for Koh Phangan Property. The development is due to complete later in 2020.
