Chapman Taylor's Manchester Studio shortlisted for Insider NW Architect of the Year Award 2024

The finalists for Insider's annual North-West Property Awards have been revealed with Chapman Taylor’s Manchester studio shortlisted for Architectural Practice of the Year 2024.

Operating for over two decades, this annual awards ceremony celebrates the best of the property industry in the North West of the UK. Over 1,000 people are expected to attend this sold-out event on Thursday, 16 May 2024 at Manchester Central.

Chapman Taylor’s Manchester studio has been involved in some of the best-known development projects in the region over the past 20 years – from industry-leading retail destinations such as the redevelopment of Manchester Arndale post the 1996 bombing to city centre residential projects including the award-winning Kampus, Apartment Development of the Year - Insider North West Residential Property Awards, and Eda, Winner of Build-To-Rent development of the year- Insider Residential Property Awards.

Notable other schemes also include regeneration projects Manchester Goods Yard, Bupa Place, Soapworks and the Tomorrow building, plus the extraordinary digital and media destination, MediaCity at Salford Quays. To add to our growing hospitality portfolio we also recently completed a new boutique hotel in the heart of Coventry City centre, Hotel Indigo.

This year's finalists were chosen after a lengthy and robust judging process. In addition to the judging session, Insider canvassed the industry's views by holding separate discussion sessions with a number of last year's winners and other respected sector experts.

Andrew Carroll

Director, UK

Since joining Chapman Taylor in 2002, Andy has led the design and delivery of major projects across a range of sectors including mixed-use, office, residential, hospitality, retail and leisure.

Andy is a core member of the Manchester Studio leadership team. As a UK Board Director, he oversees our workplace and design delivery services and contributes to defining and implementing our core values across the UK.

Michael Swiszczowski (BA(Hons), MArch, ADPPA, ARB, RIBA)

Director, UK

Michael joined Chapman Taylor in 2016 to strengthen the practice’s residential expertise. He joined the UK Board in 2022 and continues to take an active role in developing the practice’s residential and hospitality sectors across the UK business.

He has experience working on award-winning residential projects, with a particular focus on Build-to-Rent, student accommodation, hotels, serviced apartments and modular construction.

Michael is a regular speaker at residential and property conferences where he articulates Chapman Taylor’s design approach and skill sets. He is also a RIBA-elected member of the Regional Council for RIBA North West.

Rachel Rogerson (BA (Hons), Dip Arch)

Director, UK

Rachel is an accomplished design team leader and has worked on many of Chapman Taylor’s flagship projects in the UK and internationally since joining in 2006.

She leads the in-house UK technical group for the business, providing support and advice on regulatory issues. She has over 20 years of experience, with a particular focus on leading complex technical projects and design management of major projects across multiple sectors. Rachel was promoted to the UK Board in 2023 and splits her time between the London and Manchester studios.
