Construction begins at St George’s House West, Wimbledon

Construction has officially commenced at St George’s House West, Wimbledon, marking a significant milestone in the transformation of this prominent commercial building into a contemporary, sustainable workplace. Completion is anticipated in Q1 2027.

Interior design concept

Located in the heart of Wimbledon town centre, Chapman Taylor has designed the architectural and interior design refurbishment of the existing office building for Capital London. The project demonstrates the practice's continued commitment to adaptive reuse, unlocking the potential of existing commercial assets through a retrofit-first approach that significantly enhances environmental performance while creating high-quality workspace for the next generation of occupiers.

Interior design concept

The scheme retains the existing structural frame, dramatically reducing embodied carbon, while introducing a lighter, more contemporary architectural expression that improves daylight, strengthens the building's relationship with the street and establishes a distinctive new identity as flexible BCO Grade A office space. High-performance building systems, solar photovoltaics, carefully selected materials and enhanced landscaping further reinforce the project's sustainability ambitions.
