As workplaces continue to evolve in response to changing technologies, sustainability ambitions and new ways of working, we are designing environments that go far beyond the traditional office. From innovation districts in China to award-winning workplaces in Europe and sustainable business parks in Germany and the UK, our latest projects demonstrate how thoughtful, adaptable design can inspire collaboration, support wellbeing and create sustainable places where people and businesses can thrive.

Shaneng Smart Industry Building, Haikou, China

The 90,000㎡ Shaneng Smart Industry Building exemplifies Chapman Taylor's design philosophy by creating a workplace that supports both business performance and employee wellbeing. Completed in Hainan's Jiangdong New District, the landmark twin-tower headquarters for Shandong Energy brings together premium office accommodation, conference facilities, exhibition space, wellness amenities and retail within a highly integrated environment. The development, completed in 2026, demonstrates how thoughtful workplace design can foster collaboration, encourage innovation, and create lasting value for both its occupants and the wider business district, contributing positively to one of China's fastest-growing centres for commerce and industry.

Responding to the site's prominent coastal location, the project takes the form of two interconnected towers rising 18 and 22 storeys above ground, supported by three basement levels.

Sustainability has been a key consideration throughout the project. Working in conjunction with the neighbouring Hainan Energy Trading Building, the development contributes to the wider vision for a low-carbon urban district. Intelligent environmental controls, high-performance curtain wall systems and integrated landscape strategies help create an environmentally responsive and energy-efficient workplace and hospitality destination.

Designing a healthier, more sustainable destination for work and wellbeing

Our interior design for Scott.Weber Workspace Náměstí Republiky 7 building was recognised with a Office of the Year 2026 award, celebrating the creation of a flexible, hospitality-inspired workplace that redefines the serviced office experience. 

The 4,630 m² project, completed in 2026, blends contemporary design, high-quality amenities and a variety of work settings to foster collaboration, creativity and community for today's hybrid workforce.

The retrofit project delivers a contemporary workplace design concept that carefully balances the building’s historic character with the requirements of a cutting-edge office environment.

We sought to retrofit the heritage building sensitively with the integration of cutting-edge workspace design

Located within Shanghai's Zhangjiang Innovation District, the new 161,000 m² HKU School of Computing and Data Science educational and research complex brings together academic facilities, research laboratories and workplace environments to support collaboration between education, science and industry. The project demonstrates how integrated campus design can encourage knowledge sharing while creating an inspiring environment for innovation and technological advancement.

Designed around a philosophy of “openness and sharing”, the project creates a highly connected, people-focused innovation environment that combines advanced research facilities with a rich public-realm experience.

Chapman Taylor won the international design competition for the complex in 2020, and it was completed in 2026.

A sustainable campus designed to inspire research, collaboration and innovation

ISOLA represents a new approach to workplace design through the adaptive reuse of an existing office building. Conceived as a carbon-neutral office oasis, the project transforms a conventional commercial asset into a highly sustainable, biophilic workplace where landscape, wellbeing and flexible workspaces are seamlessly integrated. The design demonstrates how refurbishment can extend the life of existing buildings while significantly reducing environmental impact.

This sustainable office building breathes new life into a former industrial factory hall, once home to ČKD Semiconductors. The redevelopment will create 8,000 m² of modern Class A office space across five floors, proving that the most sustainable architecture often lies in reimagining what already exists. The building is engineered to be fully carbon-neutral in operation, a first for the Czech Republic. It is targeting the highest possible BREEAM certification level, "Outstanding," and will fully comply with European Union environmental standards (the EU taxonomy).

Construction continues to progress at SEGRO Park Düsseldorf Flingern, where Chapman Taylor has designed a next-generation commercial park that combines flexible workspace with industry-leading sustainability measures. The development provides adaptable commercial units within a landscape-led masterplan incorporating photovoltaic energy generation, extensive biodiversity initiatives, green roofs and façades, creating a workplace environment that supports both business growth and environmental performance.

The site will be transformed to include 22,400 m² of flexible commercial space, divisible into units ranging from 400 m² to 2,000 m², supported by photovoltaic systems capable of generating 1.6 MW of peak green electricity. More than 50 e-charging stations for cars and bicycles will promote emission-free mobility, while a comprehensive greening strategy for office roofs and façades will help improve the urban microclimate. Biodiversity measures such as beehives, insect hotels and bird nesting habitats will further enhance ecological value and support local wildlife.

The aim is to achieve the DGNB Gold Sustainability Certification

Three Arlington Square, which was completed in 2025, recently won a BCO South of England & South Wales Award 2026 in the category Projects up to 2,500 m², demonstrating how an existing 900 m² office building can be repositioned to meet the expectations of today's occupiers. The transformation has created a vibrant, amenity-rich workplace featuring collaborative spaces, wellbeing facilities, hospitality-inspired interiors and landscaped external areas, delivering a modern office environment that promotes productivity, flexibility and employee experience.

The project includes a refreshed building entrance and reception, a new business lounge, landscaped external courtyard, an outdoor padel court, and a self-contained gym.
