Two Chapman Taylor projects win prestigious 2025 AECC awards

Chapman Taylor is proud to announce that two of our projects have been recognised at the 2025 Spanish Association of Shopping Centres (AECC) Awards, held during the 21st Spanish Congress of Shopping Centres in Madrid on 25 September. The congress was attended by more than 14,000 professionals from across the retail and real estate industry.

  • Parque Corredor was awarded Best Major Shopping Centre Transformation or Expansion.

  • Plaza Norte 2 received the award for Best Sustainability and Environmental Impact.

These awards highlight projects and initiatives that exemplify quality, ESG criteria, and innovation, showcasing the very best in Spanish retail development.

Parque Corredor – A landmark transformation

Undergoing a multi-phased renovation between November 2019 and early 2024, with a total investment of €88 million, Parque Corredor has been comprehensively modernised by Chapman Taylor. The transformation included upgrades to both the building and parking facilities, improved circulation and visibility, and a complete refresh of 95% of the retail units.

The design created striking new façades, upgraded entrances with interactive digital technology, and enlarged, more comfortable common areas. Sustainability was a key driver, with energy-efficient LED lighting, thermally efficient materials, and abundant natural daylight incorporated throughout the scheme.

Plaza Norte 2 – Sustainability at the core

Operating since 2004, Plaza Norte 2 underwent an ambitious regeneration, completed in 2024, to enhance its classically themed interiors and improve the customer experience. Chapman Taylor’s design strategy prioritised sustainability.

The centre’s iconic Central Plaza, La Cúpula, received extensive structural interventions, improving circulation, optimising lighting, and enhancing shop visibility. A refreshed atmosphere has been created through natural vegetation, modern aesthetics, and a new lighting strategy, reaffirming the centre’s commitment to the environment.

Recognition of excellence

These prestigious awards underscore Chapman Taylor’s leading role in transforming and shaping the sustainable future of retail destinations in Spain. Both Parque Corredor and Plaza Norte 2 demonstrate how thoughtful, design-led regeneration can successfully enhance customer experience while embedding environmental responsibility.
