Our award winning interior's work

Chapman Taylor’s Interiors team had a very successful 2017. Interior design schemes across multiple sectors, from retail and leisure to offices and hospitality, have been warmly received by clients and patrons, with several award wins attesting to our world-class design capabilities.

Riedel Wine Bar & Cellar in Bangkok won the 2017 ICSC Asia-Pacific Gold Award for Excellence in the ‘Retail Concepts’ category.  Set in one of Bangkok’s long-standing luxury malls, this high-profile project is a destination which balances functionality, Riedel brand-heritage and high-quality design. Riedel Wine Bar & Cellar was shortlisted alongside another Chapman Taylor-designed Bangkok project, Mandarin Oriental Shops, which was awarded an ICSC diploma and commendation. The design of the retail stores previously won the 2014 award for Best Leisure Interiors in Thailand at the International Property Awards, Asia.

The breathtaking Jiangnan Global Harbor leisure and entertainment complex in Changzhou, China, won the prestigious 2017 International Property Award (Asia-Pacific) for ‘Best Mixed-Use Interior, China’. The 500,000m² development is one of the largest retail and leisure schemes in the world, hosting an impressive series of classically themed malls and atriums as well as offices and a themed hotel tower.

The epically scaled Mall of Qatar officially opened in April to huge excitement. The 500,000m² shopping and entertainment centre includes a wide variety of beautiful spaces containing many Chapman Taylor-designed artworks. The central interior design is a huge glass-domed central atrium called “The Oasis”. This dynamic space is landscaped with planted beds and living, tree-like support structures. Walkways are attractively curved, and restaurants lining the routes look onto a unique entertainment feature – a custom-fitted, revolving and multi-lift stage on which entertainment is provided all year round. This award-winning project completely reinvented what the interior design of a shopping centre can be.

The sensitive restoration of the world-famous Shanghai No. 1 Department Store has been extremely well received. The design reimagined the famous store while restoring it to its former glory. The old department store and two adjacent buildings, totalling 110,000m² in retail space, have been turned into a prime shopping destination for people of all demographics – with varied design themes catering for a wide range of tastes. The redesign will help the store compete in an age of online retail.

The Tomorrow building, part of MediaCityUK, was highly commended at the national BCO (British Council of Offices) 2017 awards in the commercial workplace category.  This was a considerable achievement given the thousands of office developments that are opened annually in the UK. Out interior scheme created a visually inviting and flexible space, perfectly designed for creative digital and media SMEs.

We have recently completed another striking office scheme in Italy, with the beautiful interior renovation of former aluminium factories at NOI Techpark, Bolzano, to make them ideal working environments for leading technology and R&D companies.

Our Interiors team is working on projects across several sectors all over the world. Their design schemes range from multiplex cinemas which incorporate cutting-edge sound and vision technology to new luxury residential villas at places such as The Cove in Koh Phangan, Thailand. The team is designing office interiors such as at Los Cubos in Madrid, Spain and EXPO Business Park and The Mark in Bucharest, Romania, as well as transport hubs such as Jersey Airport.

Chapman Taylor’s talent and depth of experience in creating visually striking but commercially successful interior spaces, across sectors, is second-to-none.

Mega Silk Way in Astana, Kazakhstan was opened on 23rd March 2017 by President Nazarbayev of Kazakhstan and President Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan. This retail and leisure development of 140,000m² was designated by a combined team from the Moscow and London Studios of Chapman Taylor, who worked on the project from inception to completion. It was included within the framework of EXPO 2017, which opened in June. The centre is made up of 210 shops, 24 restaurants, a food court, a cinema and a wide range of family entertainment activities, making it Kazakhstan’s largest shopping centre.
