MediaCityUK – triple award win
It has been a successful few weeks for MediaCityUK, with the scheme taking home three separate awards.
At the RTPI (Royal Town Planning Institute) North West & “White Young Green” Planning Awards 2008, MediaCityUK won the Award for City and Metropolitan Areas and the Award for Best Masterplan Document.
Judges attributed many reasons for selecting MediaCityUK in the City and Metropolitan Areas category, including: the uniqueness of the concept in the UK, the high-quality architecture and public realm, the scheme’s strong sustainability credentials and an effective and successful planning process. Princesshay, Exeter, was also commended in this category.
Judges commented that “A media city on this scale is a unique concept for the UK.
In February, MediaCityUK was also named Best Design-Led Project 2008 at the North-West Property Awards, held in Manchester. MediaCityUK was recognised as having applied innovative and creative design solutions to solve environmental and sustainability-related challenges that regeneration projects can pose, and commended for adding to the landscape of the North West.
