Manchester: BIM - Working with Contractors and Fabricators’

Manchester Revit User Group (MRUG) will be holding a meeting, ‘Working with Contractors and Fabricators’ on 22nd October 2014. David Wood, Chapman Taylor’s BIM Manager, has helped to organise the meeting, which will discuss project management, standardisation and industry process, including BIM, in the context of technical delivery.

Chapman Taylor provides financial support to MRUG to enable these meetings to be free to attend. To register for a place, or for more information, please go to the MRUG website.

BIM, Building Information Modelling, is a process that involves creating and using an intelligent 3D model to communicate project decisions.  The digital representations created can be networked to clients and people working on the project to support decision-making, enabling faster feedback.

BIM is changing how buildings, infrastructure and utilities are planned, designed, built and managed.  It is a major enabler for greater productivity, risk management, improved margins and sustainability as the construction sector has an increasing focus on a low carbon future.

All these benefits, coupled with Chapman Taylor’s known commitment to sustainability, contribute to Chapman Taylor’s increasing use of BIM as part of our UK service, and why we fully support industry groups looking to drive best use of BIM in the industry.

David Wood is responsible for overseeing the introduction of BIM into our service.  “Chapman Taylor first started using BIM in 2008 after purchasing Autodesk’s Revit Architecture software and in 2009, after extensive testing, we began to develop our first major project, Trinity Leeds, using BIM.  Since then we have continued to grow the use of BIM, with 2014 seeing increasing adoption of BIM across the entire Chapman Taylor group.” David will be presenting several Revit ‘tips and tricks’ at the MRUG meeting on the 22nd October.
