Chapman Taylor’s is advising Bolton Regeneration Ltd on the first phase of the Bolton town centre masterplan – the transformation of Crompton Place shopping centre.

Proposals for Crompton Place have now taken a significant step towards becoming a reality, with Bolton Council confirming, in principle, private sector funding to replace the tired shopping centre. It is expected that the reconstruction will act as a catalyst for further redevelopment and investment in Bolton’s town centre.

The well-located, but outdated, shopping centre will be replaced with a state-of-the-art, mixed-use retail and leisure destination as one of the five key intervention areas which make up Bolton Council’s £1 billion masterplan. The proposals will transform the town centre by creating 1,800 new homes, 7,400 new jobs and £412 million of extra economic activity.

Among the proposed provisions for Crompton Place are a widened retail offer and a much-strengthened food and leisure offer, with an upper floor terrace of restaurants overlooking Victoria Square helping to transform the way in which the town’s historic centre is enjoyed. The development will be seamlessly integrated into the wider streetscape and urban fabric to help unite the five keys elements of the town centre’s regeneration.
