Improving city connections
Improving city connections
This elegant new pedestrian suspension bridge provides a vital connection between the city’s Putuo and Jing’an districts. It reduces walking time between the two riverbanks to just five minutes. Citizens have already affectionately dubbed it “the People’s Bridge”, a living footnote to the credo: “the people build the city, the city serves the people.”

Every detail of the design integrates culture, ecology, and landscape. The west-bank waterside terrace extends the ambience of a traditional Jiangnan canal town. At the same time, the east-bank oriental pavilion mirrors the bridge’s arc, offering a sequence of “one bridge, one view” perspectives.

Lily Bridge is more than just a crossing; it is a new civic space for gathering, celebration, and creating memories. On 20 September 2025, it hosted the inaugural “Suzhou Creek Wedding”, during which 100 couples from across the Yangtze River Delta exchanged vows, released heart-shaped lanterns, and left pledges for the future.
The bridge will serve as a stage for cultural events such as the Half-Marathon Suzhou Culture & Tourism Festival, continuing to animate the waterfront and strengthen the city’s sense of place
