Tim Partington to speak at Future Cities Forum in London on 11 February

Main Board Director Tim Partington will be speaking as part of a panel discussion on urban regeneration at the Future Cities Forum, which will take place in London on 11 February.

The event, entitled “Infrastructure 2020”, will take place at law firm Herbert Smith Freehills’ Exchange House headquarters on Primrose Street from 9am to 2pm.

The Future Cities Forum debates the latest urban investment, regeneration, planning and design issues around the world, bringing together city leaders, councils, investors, developers, planners, infrastructure operators, construction companies, technology innovators, cultural organisations, architects and engineers.

Tim will be offering insights into how Chapman Taylor approaches urban redevelopment, using our proposals for Bolton Victoria Square to illustrate how the wider historical and architectural context informs our designs.

Our proposals for Bolton Victoria Square lie at the heart of Bolton Council’s £1.5bn masterplan – the scheme is the first key step in developing an exciting vision for a refreshed and revitalised Bolton town centre. The council acquired the well-located, but outdated, Crompton Place shopping centre in June 2018 from Santander Pension Fund.

The project is being brought forward by Bolton Regeneration Ltd, a partnership between Bolton Council, Beijing Construction & Engineering Group International and regeneration specialists Midia Group.

Designed by Chapman Taylor, the mixed-use scheme for the site includes a 110-bedroom hotel, 150 homes, 10,500m2 of office space, and a mixed-use retail, leisure, dining and events space (dubbed “Bolton Works”) alongside improved public realm.

The development will be seamlessly integrated into the wider streetscape and urban fabric to help reunite Bradshawgate with Victoria Square and improve the access and pedestrian flows within the town centre.
