Join us at Bisnow's Build To Rent Annual Conference on 14th-15th June

Chapman Taylor will be participating in Bisnow's Build To Rent Annual Conference, taking place on 14th-15th June in Wembley, London. The conference will bring together industry experts to discuss the future of Build To Rent (BTR) and explore strategies for raising capital, increasing deal flow, and staying ahead of the competition in the evolving BTR market.

Chapman Taylor will be well-represented at the conference, with Director Michael Swiszczowski participating in a panel discussion on enhancing the long-term value of an asset through design and fit-out. The session, hosted by Iain Murray from Cortland Consult, will feature esteemed industry professionals, including Lesley Roberts from Godwin Developments, Katherine Russell from John Lewis, Freddie Wonnacott from M&G Investments, and Kieran Tracey from Technogym.

The conference program will cover a wide range of topics relevant to the BTR sector. Some of the key themes include BTR in a new economic world, sustainable BTR practices, delivering resident value through customer experience, marketing, and operations, financing BTR deals and developments, the maintenance and refurbishment cycle of BTR schemes, the transformative power of smart technology, BTR and the 15-minute city, and future prospects for the BTR market.

Michael Swiszczowski (BA(Hons), MArch, ADPPA, ARB, RIBA)

Director, UK

Michael joined Chapman Taylor in 2016 to strengthen the practice’s residential expertise. He joined the UK Board in 2022 and continues to take an active role in developing the practice’s residential and hospitality sectors across the UK business.

He has experience working on award-winning residential projects, with a particular focus on Build-to-Rent, student accommodation, hotels, serviced apartments and modular construction.

Michael is a regular speaker at residential and property conferences where he articulates Chapman Taylor’s design approach and skill sets. He is also a RIBA-elected member of the Regional Council for RIBA North West.

Richard Daw (BA(Hons), DipArch, ARB, RIBA)

Associate Director, UK

Richard joined Chapman Taylor in 2021 with a particular focus on helping to grow Chapman Taylor’s residential design capability in Manchester. Richard brings a unique perspective to holistic living and workplace trends thanks to his former experience in managing a flexible workspace start-up.

Richard is highly experienced in several sectors, including residential, workplace, retail and education projects, and is skilled at blending the different uses in mixed-use projects. He is well placed to offer our clients a unique view on the growing Build-to-Rent sector from both an architectural and management perspective.

Marcelina Zielinska (MSC Arch and Urb Des, RIBA, FRSA)

Director, UK

Marcelina has extensive experience of all design stages on a diverse range of projects of various scales, from individual buildings to large urban masterplans.

She has a particular passion for high street regeneration, with a talent for anticipating future trends in retail and leisure and the impact they will have on town centres. Her current projects include heritage-sensitive masterplans for historic city centres.

As an architect and urban designer, Marcelina understands the importance of placemaking and of combining uses to create socially, commercially and environmentally sustainable communities, both in the UK and internationally.

Marcelina has been with Chapman Taylor since March 2007, when she joined the company to help deliver St. David’s 2 in Cardiff. Marcelina was promoted to the UK Board in 2023.

Nick Thursby (BA (Hons) Dip Arch RIBA)

Director, UK

Nick joined Chapman Taylor’s London studio in 1999 and has over 20 years’ experience spanning all project stages. He has particular expertise in the concept design and masterplanning of schemes through to their detailed design, particularly on large-scale projects at the heart of many of the UK’s major cities.

Nick was jointly responsible for establishing Chapman Taylor’s Bristol studio in 2012 and, as a UK Board Director, he is responsible for the ongoing business development and management of this part of the UK business.

He believes it is crucial to the long-term success of Chapman Taylor to nurture and mentor the creativity and talent in our studios.

Nick joined Chapman Taylor’s London studio in 1999 and worked on the award-winning Princesshay, Exeter scheme before joining the UK concept design team.

He was jointly responsible for establishing Chapman Taylor’s Bristol studio in 2013 and as a UK Board Director is now responsible for the ongoing development and management of this part of the UK business. Nick also leads Chapman Taylor’s Sustainability Group responsible for researching best-practice environmental design initiatives and innovation.

He has 20 years’ experience spanning all project stages.

Jonathan Jones (BEng (Hons) MArch)

Senior Architect, UK

Jonathan joined Chapman Taylor in Bristol in 2013 as one of the first Architectural Assistants in the Bristol studio. Since then, he has been involved in various projects and masterplans across the UK and internationally. He is currently overseeing schemes in the South West of England, with a particular focus on residential and mixed-use design.

Jonathan is particularly skilled in the concept design and feasibility stages of mixed-use proposals. His freehand drawings and concept designs have been extremely valuable in developing the studio’s capabilities.

Anil Tailor (BA(Hons) DipArch March)

Associate Director, UK

Anil joined Chapman Taylor in 2023 with a particular focus on helping to grow Chapman Taylor’s residential design capability in London. With over 20 years’ experience, Anil has run both new build and renovation projects in the UK and internationally in a wide range of sectors including residential, retail, healthcare, transport and education.

Anil prides himself on his attention to detail on and off site and has exceptional freehand, model-making and CAD skills.

Simon Pitt (BA(Hons), DipArch, ARB, RIBA)

Associate Director, UK

Simon joined Chapman Taylor in 2021 and brings a wealth of residential experience.

Simon has successfully designed and delivered a wide range of Residential and Hospitality projects and has over twenty years’ experience.
