Creating visions for the homes of the future - our 2021 Inter-Studio Sketch Visualisation Competition

Chapman Taylor’s international studios have been taking part in our 2021 Inter-Studio Sketch Visualisation Competition on the theme of “Homes”, for which the brief was to provide sketches or visualisations to explore a home or a concept living environment as an expression of a new narrative for our future living spaces.

First place

Our jury panel has deliberated, and the results of the competition are now in; we are delighted to announce that John Riley, from our Manchester studio, has won first prize.

John’s entry is a detailed, colourful and thought-provoking meditation on the nature of the future home, with an emphasis on wellbeing, sustainability, connectivity, biodiversity and advanced technology.

Second place

Second prize goes to Daniel Morgans, from our London studio, and third prize is awarded to Stephanie Porfyriou, from our Manchester studio. All entries were anonymous, and the judging panel had a difficult time choosing the top three because of what they considered to be a very high standard of entries across the board. The judges were impressed by the creativity of each vision and the quality of the visual representations of those ideas.

Third place

Among the questions we suggested might be useful to cover in the submissions were:

  • How should we readapt our homes for a post-COVID society?
  • Do we need to re-evaluate our living layouts?
  • Should/how do we bring more of the outside in?
  • Should we create an adaptable work-from-home environment?

Congratulations to John on winning first place, as well as to Daniel, Stephanie and all our entrants!
