Chapman Taylor’s Trafford Wharf scheme secures £26 million from Greater Manchester Good Growth Fund

Chapman Taylor is delighted to share that the Trafford Wharf residential development, designed by our Manchester studio, has been selected to receive £26 million of the £1 billion Greater Manchester Good Growth Fund, secured by developer Cole Waterhouse, working with Heim Global Investor.

The innovative city-region investment initiative will support 30 new projects to catalyse economic growth across Greater Manchester, with three projects in each of the 10 boroughs. The first wave of funded schemes is expected to deliver nearly 3,000 new homes, 22,000 jobs and over two million square feet of employment space.

This significant funding endorsement highlights the strategic importance of Trafford Wharf and the strength of its design vision. With planning granted in September 2025, the project will bring forward 382 high-quality homes along the Trafford waterfront. The scheme will deliver a generous and accessible public realm, opening the water’s edge for residents and the wider community while setting a benchmark for inclusive placemaking.

Designed to act as a catalyst for regeneration, Trafford Wharf forms an important first step in the coordinated renewal of this historic and strategically located part of the city. The development is conceived to encourage active neighbourhood life, enhance pedestrian connections and create a sustainable waterside environment that contributes to the wider transformation of Trafford.

Chapman Taylor looks forward to continuing our partnership with Cole Waterhouse to help realise the full potential of this landmark scheme.
