Chapman Taylor’s design for Golden Bay Bridge in Jinwan district of Shanghai, China

The Golden Bay Bridge, spanning the Yunshan Road Bridge in Shanghai, China, is strategically located in the heart of Jinwan Core area.

The Jinwan core area is primarily characterised as an office district for research, education, and manufacturing. The bridge serves as the vital link that seamlessly connects these various functions.

Chapman Taylor's design concept for the Golden Bay Bridge combines the region's history, culture, human dynamics, urban functionality, and architectural aesthetics. It weaves these elements together to create a bridge that not only serves as a functional conduit but also embodies the spirit of Shanghai and the allure of Jinwan.

The design adopts an innovative approach that harmoniously fuses tradition and modernity, with a focus on creating a landmark bridge that encapsulates the cultural aspirations of the region. Simultaneously, it caters to the functional requirements of the surrounding area, while projecting a forward-looking urban dynamism.

One of the most interesting features of the Golden Bay Bridge design is its lighting system, which transforms the structure into a breathtaking night spectacle. Drawing inspiration from the beauty of the starry sky, the lighting design immerses visitors in an unforgettable nocturnal experience. Countless tiny points of light will flicker across the bridge deck and its surroundings, creating the illusion of traversing through the vast expanse of the night sky.

Chapman Taylor's design for the Golden Bay Bridge represents a fusion of aesthetics, culture, and functionality, it is poised to become a transformative symbol in the vibrant landscape of Jinwan, Shanghai, China.
