Chapman Taylor working alongside WSP on design of Brent Cross West station in North London

Chapman Taylor is working alongside WSP Engineering Consultants to design the new Brent Cross West Thameslink station in North London.

The £40 million station, being delivered by VolkerFitzpatrick, is part of the wider Brent Cross Cricklewood regeneration programme as well as serving Brent Cross shopping centre, the renewal and extension of which Chapman Taylor has also been designing.

The design for Brent Cross West will create a modern, attractive and functionally optimal station which will serve the new Brent Cross town centre, providing improved links for passengers travelling to Central London or to Luton and Gatwick Airports as well as being conveniently close to Brent Cross shopping centre for visitors from across the Thameslink network. A covered pedestrian overbridge will provide well-lit and easy access for people coming from Barnet.

The station is being designed for maximum inclusivity, including seamless access for persons of restricted mobility. The platforms have been designed to accommodate 12-carriage trains and up to eight peak stopping services each day.

Chapman Taylor Transportation Director Peter Farmer says: “We are excited to be able to use our expertise in designing major transport hubs on this key component of the Brent Cross Cricklewood regeneration project. We look forward to progressing this welcome and much-needed new railway station to a successful completion in partnership with WSP, VolkerFitzpatrick and the rest of the team.”

Brent Cross West Thameslink station is due to open to passengers in May 2022.
