Chapman Taylor to attend and speak at the Footprint+ Conference in London on May 8-9 2024

Chapman Taylor will again attend the annual Footprint+ Conference at Old Billingsgate in London on May 8-9th. The conference is a gathering of stakeholders and experts from across the UK property market, dedicated to exploring cutting-edge strategies for achieving Net Zero in real estate.

As part of its commitment to sustainable design and construction, Chapman Taylor will be represented by our Responsible Design Group Lead Alexander Esfahani, Architectural Assistant Gloria George, and Director Michael Swiszczowski.

Alexander will speak and chair a session entitled "Setting the room stat: Balancing comfort and operational energy". This engaging session will explore what we can learn about basic human comfort vs operational carbon use as we try to balance the needs of people and the planet.

Footprint+ is the world's most advanced international conference for the decarbonisation of the built environment. It provides a unique platform for face-to-face interactions on sustainable practices in the property sector, facilitating discussions and knowledge-sharing among participants.

Alexander Esfahani (Bsc(Hons), MArch, PGDip ARB)

Responsible Design Group Lead

Alexander joined Chapman Taylor’s Manchester studio in 2016 as part of the Feasibility team, predominantly focusing on the Residential and Mixed-Use sectors.

He has experience working on a wide range of projects at all work stages, with recent projects including Manchester Goods Yard which was successfully handed over in 2021.

Alexander is passionate about creative design and has been instrumental in developing our sustainability strategy and a number of R&D initiatives. As the global head of Chapman Taylor’s Responsible Design Steering Group, he promotes and coordinates environmental principles and best practice within the company.

Gloria George (MArch)

Architectural Assistant

Gloria George is a MArch graduate from the University of the West of England and is passionate about sustainable design. She has investigated concepts of Biophilia and Biomimetics architecture and applied these theories to her academic portfolio.

She recently undertook the BREEAM Associate Course which provides her with an in-depth understanding of projects through exploring how different schemes operate at key stages in the building lifecycle.

Michael Swiszczowski (BA(Hons), MArch, ADPPA, ARB, RIBA)

Director, UK

Michael joined Chapman Taylor in 2016 to strengthen the practice’s residential expertise. He joined the UK Board in 2022 and continues to take an active role in developing the practice’s residential and hospitality sectors across the UK business.

He has experience working on award-winning residential projects, with a particular focus on Build-to-Rent, student accommodation, hotels, serviced apartments and modular construction.

Michael is a regular speaker at residential and property conferences where he articulates Chapman Taylor’s design approach and skill sets. He is also a RIBA-elected member of the Regional Council for RIBA North West.
