Catalina Ionita to speak at Manchester Society of Architects symposium

Dr Catalina Ionita, Senior Architect at Chapman Taylor, has been invited to speak at the Manchester Society of Architects’ symposium, GEN9 – Beyond the Skyline, on 2 October 2025 at Campfield House, Manchester.

Marking the 160th anniversary of the Manchester Society of Architects (MSA), the symposium looks to the city’s future, exploring how architecture can respond to the challenges and opportunities of the next century.

The event will feature nine speakers, each delivering a nine-minute talk on one of nine themes that will define Manchester’s built environment for generations to come — spanning climate resilience, housing, technology, culture, and civic identity.

Catalina’s presentation will focus on the next generation of architects and their role in shaping Manchester’s future. She will discuss her vision for the city’s evolution, the importance of innovation and collaboration, and how young architects can tackle pressing challenges such as sustainability, climate resilience, and social responsibility.

Following her talk, Catalina will join a panel discussion chaired by Phil Griffin, alongside other leading voices from the profession, to exchange perspectives and ideas on Manchester’s next architectural chapter.
