Commemorative monument
Sculpture
Chapman Taylor’s design for a commemorative monument is set beside the Lamborghini factory in Sant’Agata Bolognese, Italy.
The Lamborghini Road monument is composed of two hands, set on two different roundabouts.
The first, the “hand of the past” will be created from the repetition of a single metal element which has three different finishes – bronze, silver and burnished brass. These extremely light elements are welded together, creating a semi-transparent effect, as if the hand is disappearing – a nod to the transience of nature.
The second, the “hand of the future” will be created from an irregular network of thin bent steel rods with the same three different finishes – bronze, silver and burnished brass. This mesh conveys the concepts of speed, dynamism and energy, coming together in the form of a controlled chaos.
