​The largest shopping centre in Qatar

The award-winning Mall of Qatar officially opened in April 2017. It is the largest shopping centre in Qatar, with an estimated 20 million customers anticipated annually. This world-class retail and entertainment destination sits adjacent to the Al Rayyan Sports Club, a FIFA 2022 World Cup Stadium. The exterior is marked by its ‘jewelled’ façade, giving the whole project a memorable design motif and a striking presence among the series of ambitious buildings which line the highway.

Extensive retail and leisure offer

The sheer scale of the Mall of Qatar is breathtaking, with over 500 shops (introducing 80 new brands to Doha) and more than 100 F&B outlets. It was constructed with 13 types of marble, covering more than 62,000m² of floor finishes and vertical cladding, and seven beautiful light installations are on display. There was over 10,500m² of natural skylighting and 28 metres of skylights in the luxury court area. 48,000m² of landscaped greenery represents 10% of the total building area, complemented by 24 water features and beautiful restaurant terraces.

With a budget of US $1.2bn on Phase 1 alone, the Mall is spread over a building area of 500,000m², equivalent in size to 50 FIFA football pitches.

The 'Oasis' - A unique entertainment concept

The most defining feature of the Mall of Qatar is the ‘Oasis’, a landscaped 30-metre high atrium. This dynamic space is landscaped with planted beds and living, tree-like support structures. Walkways are attractively curved, and restaurants lining the routes look onto a unique entertainment feature – a custom-fitted, revolving and multi-lift stage on which entertainment is provided all year round.

The world’s first resident mall theatre group

The 50-strong troupe deliver live family entertainment on a 360-degree, custom developed, revolving and multi-lift stage.  The audience can watch from one of the numerous restaurants and cafés around The Oasis. The stage is also used for external company promotions such as fashion shows or car presentations.  

Family entertainment and excellent customer service

In addition to the Oasis live shows, the Mall of Qatar has an on-going programme of mall-wide family entertainment. The centre is also notable for its excellent customer service, with concierge and porter services to help customers find taxis or hotel rooms and to continue shopping without carrying bags everywhere. 

Digital screens add to the experience

In addition to proprietary shows, other events use the stage for promotions such as fashion shows or car presentations. Using LED screens in the down position, football games and other video content is also shown.  

Diverse leisure offer

The Mall also includes a 19-screen cinema with the largest IMAX Laser 3D projection system in the world, a 10-lane bowling alley and a large Family Entertainment Centre featuring KidzMondo, which provides role playing real life experiences for children.

5-Star hospitality facilities in a well-served location

Directly connected to the Mall of Qatar, the AlRayyan Hotel is the first Hilton hotel opened under its Curio Collection in the Middle East. Both are situated a mere 20 minutes west of downtown Doha, with a modern highway interchange on the main arterial route of Dukhan Highway and a dedicated Metro station. The location is next to the Al Rayyan Stadium, a FIFA World Cup stadium in 2022.The mall, with its 7,000 parking spaces, is very conveniently located. 

Chapman Taylor was the Lead Designer, designing both the Architecture and Interiors. The design of the Mall of Qatar follows the highest Qatar Sustainability Assessment System (QSAS) requirements.

Mall of Qatar forms the basis for Qatar’s first super-regional shopping centre. More than merely a retail and entertainment mall, the complex forms the nucleus of a brand new sporting and cultural city.
