Shandong Energy Jinan International Trade Office Park nears completion

Construction is progressing rapidly on the Shandong Energy Jinan International Trade Office Park, with the landmark mixed-use development now approaching completion.

Recognised as one of the major development projects in Shandong Province, the scheme has been included in the provincial development programme and designated as a key project for Jinan City, highlighting its strategic importance in supporting regional economic growth. Once complete, the development will serve as a national hub for innovation in the energy sector, driving digital transformation while strengthening the economic vitality of both Jinan and Shandong Province.

Chapman Taylor is proud to be leading the architectural design of this significant project, delivering architecture alongside interior design and landscape design consultancy services. The development occupies a site of approximately 40,900m² and provides a total gross floor area of 265,100m².

Positioned prominently on Jing Shi Road, the masterplan is anchored by two striking 172.5-metre gateway towers, complemented by a series of podium buildings that accommodate a conference centre, dispatch centre, sports centre, banquet hall and exhibition centre. The architectural concept takes inspiration from the traditional Chinese pagoda, reinterpreting its timeless proportions and symbolism through a contemporary design language to create a distinctive corporate headquarters and a new eastern gateway to Jinan's Central Business District.

The elegant façade combines glass and natural stone to create a refined, modern architectural expression, while the podium has been carefully designed to support collaboration, wellbeing and hospitality. Facilities include a double-height banquet hall, sports amenities, a garden-style employee restaurant and a dramatic full-height shared lobby that forms the heart of the workplace.

The interior and landscape concepts draw on traditional Chinese cultural values, incorporating the principles of Li (礼), Zun (尊), He (和) and Rong (融), representing courtesy, respect, harmony and integration. Together, these ideas create a people-focused environment that balances contemporary workplace requirements with a strong sense of cultural identity.

Located beside Lotus Mountain, the landscape strategy embraces the surrounding natural setting through a green, low-carbon design approach inspired by the concept of a traditional Chinese landscape painting. The seamless integration of architecture and nature creates an inspiring environment for work, collaboration and hospitality.

As evening falls, the development will become a defining feature of Jinan's skyline through a carefully choreographed architectural lighting scheme. Inspired by China's 24 Solar Terms, the dynamic illumination reflects Shandong Energy Group's commitment to sustainable innovation while providing a distinctive visual identity for the headquarters.

As construction enters its final stages, the Shandong Energy Jinan International Trade Office Park is set to become a strategic platform for Shandong Energy Group, supporting innovation, attracting leading multinational organisations and reinforcing Jinan's position as a centre for the future development of the global energy industry.
