Plejada Shopping Centre in Sosnowiec Set for Major Modernisation

Plejada Shopping Centre in Sosnowiec is set to undergo a comprehensive modernisation that will significantly enhance the customer experience and redefine its role within the local community. After more than 20 years in operation, the centre will be transformed with a new food court, children’s play area, upgraded public amenities, and refreshed architectural features—creating a more welcoming and engaging destination for visitors of all ages.

This two-phase redevelopment project, managed by Cushman & Wakefield with Chapman Taylor responsible for the construction and implementation design, is part of a broader trend in retail real estate: revitalising established shopping centres to align with evolving consumer expectations. The first phase, scheduled for completion by Q4 2025, focuses on the currently closed section of the centre and will deliver a 300-seat food court, five new dining outlets, a children’s zone, new toilets, and an outdoor relaxation area. The second phase will see the renovation of the entrance façade and the existing shopping areas, including new ceilings, lighting, flooring, shopfronts, rest areas, and a refreshed colour scheme, with final completion expected in 2026.

The redesign responds to insights from recent market research and local demographic changes. With several new residential developments nearby—mainly home to young families—the renewed Plejada will offer more than just retail, integrating spaces for leisure, socialising, and community engagement. It reflects a growing shift in how shopping centres are used, with a strong focus on placemaking, entertainment, and experiential design.

Since opening in 2001, Plejada has played a key role in Sosnowiec’s urban life. This revitalisation project will ensure the centre continues to serve as a modern, inclusive, and vibrant community hub for many years to come.
