Glasgow Harbour Lifestyle Outlet

An application for approval of Reserved Matters Planning Permission has been submitted on behalf of Peel Lifestyle Outlets for the next phase of its plan to transform Glasgow’s historic waterfront. The project will create a 33,000m², mixed-use riverside district, Glasgow Harbour Lifestyle Outlet.

The £100 million development forms part of a strategic masterplan for the area, designed by Chapman Taylor, and will include retail outlets, restaurants and cafés, a cinema, waterfront promenades, public squares and spaces for curated events.

The scheme is designed to attract people from diverse demographics, with a wide range of leisure options to ensure that the district is active throughout the day and evening. The development is forecast to create thousands of jobs and inject £45 million per year into the local economy.

Planning Permission in Principal was granted in 2008 to rejuvenate the 74-acre site, which sits within the Clyde Waterfront Regeneration Programme. Peel has already built 1,100 apartments as part of the first phase of the development.

Chapman Taylor Main Board Director Tim Partington said: “We are delighted to have been able to work once again with Peel Lifestyle Outlets to help them achieve their vision for regenerating an important area of Glasgow which has great social and economic potential. We look forward to seeing that vision become reality, and to witnessing the benefits that Glasgow Harbour Lifestyle Outlet will bring to the city.”   Chapman Taylor provided strategic masterplan advice to Peel Lifestyle Outlets. The Project Architect is Glasgow-based ADF. It is anticipated that the development will be completed by 2021, should planning permission be achieved.
