We are delighted to share that Diana Paune, a Part II Architectural Assistant in our Manchester studio, has been shortlisted for the Drawing of the Year Awards 2025, hosted by Archisource.
Diana’s evocative drawing, part of her academic thesis, is currently on display at the London Creates exhibition at the Truman Brewery, which is open to the public until 19 July.
Her shortlisted work explores the reconnection of Manchester’s River Medlock with its surrounding communities—imagining a future where the city rediscovers and celebrates the river that once powered its industrial rise. Central to her proposal is a seasonal floating pool that naturally filters river water to create a safe, public space for swimming, supported by temporary, inflatable infrastructure. The concept reflects a broader narrative of sustainable urban renewal and the vital importance of water quality in creating healthier, more connected communities.
This recognition highlights Diana’s talent for thoughtful, visionary design and her ability to communicate complex urban ideas through beautifully crafted visuals.
