Chapman Taylor Redesigns Food Court at Europa Shopping Mall in Slovakia, Blending Futurism with Family-Friendly Comfort
Chapman Taylor has completed the full redesign of the food court at Europa Shopping Mall in Banská Bystrica, Slovakia, delivering a cutting-edge dining experience that caters to two very different audiences—teenagers and families with children.
Balancing the needs of these distinct groups presented a creative challenge, which the design team embraced through a mix of high-tech aesthetics and thoughtful spatial planning. The food court units feature a futuristic look, defined by minimalist forms, sleek chrome frames, integrated LED lighting, and glossy white ceramic finishes that establish a clean, modern atmosphere.
To soften this tech-forward environment, Chapman Taylor introduced warm wooden furniture in the central seating areas—creating a sense of balance, comfort, and inclusivity within the space.
One of the standout features of the project is its digitally enhanced customer journey. Guests can browse menus and place orders via self-service kiosks or a mobile app, even before entering the seating zone—making the experience especially convenient for parents with strollers or those in a hurry. Real-time digital displays at each unit keep visitors informed of their order status.
The layout is designed for flexibility and clarity, with universal pictogram-based signage that removes language barriers and ensures easy wayfinding for all visitors. Seating is divided into varied functional zones, including areas for children, social hubs for teens, quick-stop and long-stay zones, dedicated dining spaces, and cozy corners for coffee and dessert.
With this forward-thinking reconstruction, Chapman Taylor has reimagined the Europa Mall food court as a dynamic, accessible, and future-ready social space that speaks to the evolving needs of modern retail environments.
