Chapman Taylor designs renovation of Galerías Perisur in Mexico City

Chapman Taylor has designed the renovation of Galerías Perisur, one of Mexico City’s most significant and established shopping centres, delivering a renewed retail landmark where technology and nature converge at the heart of the capital.

The project focuses on the comprehensive upgrade of the mall’s main entrances, parking areas and the spatial connections between them, with the aim of improving circulation, wayfinding and the overall visitor experience. Through a clear and legible reorganisation of movement, the scheme enhances accessibility and creates a more intuitive arrival and journey through the centre.

Each of the main entrances is defined by a distinct architectural identity. One entrance is inspired by technology, expressed through contemporary materials, digital elements and integrated LED screens that create a dynamic and forward-looking arrival experience. In contrast, the second entrance draws inspiration from nature, incorporating greenery, organic forms and softer materials to establish a calmer, more biophilic environment.

These two contrasting themes converge within the redesigned central plaza, which becomes the social and spatial heart of the shopping centre. Here, technology and nature are carefully balanced to create a cohesive, welcoming public space that reinforces Galerías Perisur’s role as a contemporary urban destination.

Underpinned by Chapman Taylor’s experience in large-scale retail transformation, the renovation strengthens the centre’s identity while responding to evolving consumer expectations through enhanced experience, clarity and placemaking.

The transformation of Galerías Perisur reaffirms its position as a flagship retail destination in Mexico City, blending innovation and nature to create a renewed, future-ready shopping experience.
