Bar.Yard at Kimpton Maa-Lai Bangkok has been named the Best Rooftop Bar in Bangkok at the B.A.D Awards 2026, continuing the venue’s remarkable run of success following its recent transformation by Chapman Taylor.
Perched on the 40th floor of Kimpton Maa-Lai Bangkok, Bar.Yard is one of the city’s most distinctive rooftop destinations. Chapman Taylor designed the interiors for its 2026 transformation, introducing a bold new identity, refreshed spatial layout and vibrant design language inspired by Bangkok’s tropical climate, nightlife and cultural dynamism.
The latest recognition builds on Bar.Yard’s established reputation as one of Bangkok’s leading nightlife destinations. The venue had already been named Best Rooftop Bar at the BK Magazine B.A.D Awards in 2023, 2024 and 2025, with its 2026 success maintaining its position at the forefront of the city’s rooftop bar scene.
A new chapter for an award-winning destination
Working closely with the client and in line with IHG brand direction, Chapman Taylor’s design focused on amplifying Bar.Yard’s distinctive personality while improving flexibility, comfort and the overall guest experience.
The reimagined interior introduces a fluid layout that adapts throughout the day and evening, from relaxed sunset drinks and intimate social occasions to high-energy nights and live entertainment.
A vivid colour palette and expressive motifs, including the Hornbill, Bird of Paradise, Serpent and Sun, bring a strong sense of Thai identity to the interior. Lighting, furniture and spatial zoning were carefully considered to create an environment that balances theatrical energy with comfort and performance.
The result is a tropical urban atmosphere that combines local cultural influences with Bar.Yard’s distinctive international character, complemented by a food and beverage offering that brings together Thai, Southeast Asian, and Pan-Latin influences.
Celebrating the best of Bangkok after dark
Established by BK Magazine in 2017, the B.A.D (Bangkok After Dark) Awards celebrate the best of Bangkok’s nightlife, recognising the bars, clubs and venues helping to shape the city’s after-dark culture.
BK Magazine’s team and a panel of industry judges select winners after extensive evaluation, considering the overall experience venues offer across the city.
Bar.Yard’s latest award is particularly significant after its transformation, recognising the destination's continued strength as it enters a new chapter.
