Two Chapman Taylor Projects Shortlisted for CREDAWARDS

Two Chapman Taylor projects have been shortlisted for the prestigious CREDAWARDS in China.

Baku Tower 2, located in Azerbaijan, and Gran Plaza 2 in Spain have both been shortlisted for CREDAWARDS in the categories of Mixed-use Architecture and Urban Regeneration, respectively. The CREDAWARDS, formerly known as the Chinese Redesign Awards, celebrate the very best in global property design.

Port Baku Tower 2, Baku, Azerbaijan (Mixed-use Architecture)

The architectural design for the 135,000m², office-led Port Baku Tower 2 was conceived as a sculptural completion of the wider Port Baku development. The new mixed-use tower serves as an evolution of the original Port Baku Tower 1 design, completed in 2011, forming a "bookend" to the eastern aspect of Port Baku and creating a sense of enclosure to the central zone of the development.

The sculptural, curving façades and inclined upper levels create an elegant addition to the Baku skyline. Additionally, the angled foyer space at the base of the new tower, with its 16m-high ceiling, establishes a strong sense of arrival and an impressive entrance into the office building.

Gran Plaza 2, Majadahonda, Spain (Urban Regeneration)

Chapman Taylor has extended and reconfigured this beloved shopping centre, creating a cutting-edge renovation and extension project that has transformed it into a day-out destination for visiting families. The project includes extensive new indoor and outdoor areas and leisure attractions, catering to modern shopping and relaxation preferences.

What once was a car park has been transformed into a landscaped park, evoking the atmosphere of a botanical garden with around one hundred different species of plants and trees. Attractions for families include water jets, a pirate ship play area, and climbing walls built to resemble natural rock formations. Restaurant terraces and seating areas are also available, with retractable coverage from the sun.

Over the last ten years, the CREDAWARDS have received c10,000 entries from design firms in 26 countries and regions. The awards highlights a broad spectrum of projects, ranging from urban regeneration and infrastructure developments to public facilities such as museums, libraries, and sports complexes. It also covers extensive commercial and office developments, residential areas, and encompasses both existing and conceptual designs.

Congratulations to everyone involved in these well-deserved nominations!
