Zhujiajiao, a new 'water town' on the outskirts of Shanghai

Chapman Taylor’s masterplan and concept design in Zhujiajiao, a 'water town' on the outskirts of Shanghai, has been identified as one of Shanghai's local governments key development projects for the next five years as an exemplar project that will stimulate tourism.

The project is located in the Shanghai Dianshan Lake Area and is divided into four parts covering 50 km², with Chapman Taylor responsible for completing one part of strategic masterplanning and key areas of the design.

The entire development will create a world-class 'Lake District' with public landscaping and a new network and ecosystem, as well as new urban spaces. It will act as a vital corridor throughout the whole region and will include a media hub, an international conference centre, a green technology research and development park, ecological agriculture exhibition area, and a new water village with a blend of cultural and commercial tourist zones.
