Chapman Taylor's Michael Swiszczowski to speak at The Housing Forum National Conference 2026

Group Board Director Michael Swiszczowski will join an expert panel discussing the role of rightsizing in addressing the UK's housing challenges at The Housing Forum National Conference 2026 on Tuesday 20 October.

Organised by The Housing Forum, the cross-sector membership network for housing and construction, this year's conference, "Fixing the Housing Ecosystem – Solutions in Action", will bring together leaders from the public, private and not-for-profit sectors to explore practical solutions to some of the most pressing challenges facing the housing industry.

Michael will participate in the "Rightsizing" panel discussion, from 14:30 to 15:15, examining how encouraging people to move into homes better suited to their changing needs could improve housing choice, mobility and the availability of family homes across the UK. He will be joined on the panel by Lord Richard Best (Baron Best) OBE DL, an independent Crossbench member of the House of Lords and a leading voice on housing and public policy.

The discussion will explore the social, cultural and financial barriers that can discourage older homeowners from moving, including emotional attachment to family homes, the availability of suitable alternatives and the costs of relocating. Panellists will also consider how rightsizing could support the Government's wider housing ambitions, the potential impact of policy measures such as Stamp Duty relief, and what developers, designers and the wider housing industry can do to create more attractive, accessible housing options that encourage people to move by choice.

With extensive experience in residential architecture, Build-to-Rent, and alternative living models, Michael brings valuable insight into changing resident expectations and the importance of creating homes that respond to different lifestyles and life stages.

The wider conference will address the evolving housing landscape, examining how new policies, investment opportunities, technologies and delivery models can support greater collaboration and improve housing outcomes.

Michael's participation reflects Chapman Taylor's continued commitment to the national housing debate and to exploring how innovative, people-focused residential design can help address the UK's long-term housing needs.
