Chapman Taylor designed Trafford Wharf mixed-use scheme goes to public consultation
Our client, Cole Waterhouse, has launched a public consultation for its proposed Trafford Wharf mixed-use development, which seeks to transform the former Hilti headquarters site in Manchester.
The plans include 438 Build to Rent (BtR) apartments, 419 student accommodation bedrooms, educational spaces, and commercial units. The development will incorporate affordable housing and create local jobs, boosting the area's economy. The consultation invites residents and stakeholders to provide feedback via a virtual exhibition, which will be open until October 4, 2024.
The project promises to significantly contribute to the regeneration of Trafford Wharf, enhancing public spaces and creating new housing opportunities. Damian Flood, CEO of Cole Waterhouse, commented: “Our vision is to create much-needed homes across various tenures, supporting Trafford’s ongoing regeneration. This development will turn an underutilized brownfield site into a dynamic neighbourhood with sustainable transport connections and proximity to educational institutions in Manchester, Salford, and Trafford. We are excited to hear the community's feedback on how our plans can positively contribute to the area.”
The site is adjacent to the Wharfside tram stop and offers excellent transport links and access to local amenities.
Chapman Taylor Residential Director Michael Swiszczowski commented, “We're excited to collaborate again with Cole Waterhouse as we embark on this transformative opportunity. Our first joint project, Eda, a multi-award winning Build-to-Rent project with Cole Waterhouse, keeps receiving industry award recognition, so it's a real privilege to collaborate once again as we help to realise their vision for Trafford Wharf - a truly unique, mixed-use proposition for the area.”
