Sun protection inspired by local culture

Chapman Taylor’s Brussels studio created a number of façade options for the African Development Bank headquarters building in Abidjan, Ivory Coast.

The design concept draws on the local landscape, environment and culture, creating a colourful and context-sensitive sun protection system for the building.

The options range from simple geometric patterns in earthy terracotta colours to detail-rich and multi-coloured tile-style patchworks which create vibrancy and add strong visual interest.
