Studio culture

Our culture is based on encouraging creativity, transparency, rewarding success, personal development and an open exchange of ideas and teamwork. Operating from 18 international design studios, we aim to cultivate an international and local creative culture, no matter where you are based. 
We encourage team social activities, training and CPDs, as well as design, sketch and photography competitions. We also promote team-building and a culture of friendship and fun both in the workplace and after hours.

As a RIBA chartered practice, Chapman Taylor believes in investing in the future by identifying the talents and skills of the next generation of architects.

In the UK, we employ both Part I (year-out) and Part II graduates, and we always endeavour to impart the experience and knowledge required by each graduate to enable them to successfully complete their studies.

We have a student group whose main aim is to give support to graduate architects looking to sit their professional exams. This group is made up of current graduates and those who have recently qualified. 

Many employees who joined us as year-out students have subsequently completed their studies, returned to work with Chapman Taylor and gone on to forge long and successful careers with us.

Head of IT – Architects - London Subtitle: London Studio

Chapman Taylor is an award-winning practice of global architects and masterplanners, known for designing places and buildings that are both creative and successful.

Established in 1959, we have longstanding relationships with many of the world’s leading developers, contractors, consultants, investors and brands.

We are looking for a Head of IT, with experience of managing infrastructure, system applications and change management, based in our London studio.

In this challenging role, you will be responsible for the management of all IT functions, providing structure, support and governance. Reporting directly to the Main Board Finance Director, you will be responsible for the company’s IT strategy and for managing projects and outsourced support contracts to ensure the availability of the IT function. You will be expected to manage multiple projects at any given time, ensuring that all key stakeholders are informed and managed.

You must have at least 4 years of previous experience within technical support and project management, ideally at supervisory level.

Areas of Responsibility:

  • Manage multiple IT service providers and support for service standards.
  • Ongoing enhancements to the existing IT architecture and infrastructure to optimise operational delivery.
  • Work collaboratively across all areas of the organisation.
  • Act as the focal point for all things IT.
  • GDPR compliance.
  • Ensure annual Cyber Essentials Plus Accreditation.
  • Line management of helpdesk, desktop services, network, security, web system applications and infrastructure. Management of an external IT service provider and an in-house team.
  • Support and continue to migrate international studios to Office 365.
  • Ensure all projects are adding maximum value to the business
  • Develop an annual IT roadmap and operating budget for the department, and monitor the implementation of these to ensure that the financial targets are met.
  • Manage stakeholder communication, update meetings, project plans, schedule and status reporting.
  • Participate in Directors Management meetings.

Experienced Interior Designer Subtitle: London Studio

Chapman Taylor’s London studio is looking for a candidate to join our expanding Interiors team.   

Chapman Taylor is an award-winning practice of architects and masterplanners with 18 studios across the world. We have worked on the design of many groundbreaking projects across 90 countries.    

Our Interior Design group is looking for a talented, client-facing, Senior Interior Designer with relevant post-qualification experience specialising in the interior design of shopping centres, retail environments and F&B projects.

Experience in developing concept designs through to detailed design and construction delivery is essential, along with a good technical knowledge and understanding of current regulations and legislation.

The candidate will need to lead the team in the preparation of good-quality production information - AutoCAD and Revit are the preferred packages, with knowledge also required of Photoshop and Illustrator InDesign.  Strong presentation skills are necessary.

Associate Director Subtitle: Bangkok studio

Location of work: Chapman Taylor Bangkok office. (BTS Ratchadamri)

Job Summary:

Creative leader who will be responsible for assisting the Directors with project organization, client management and design leadership for delivering world-class projects across South East Asia for our international clients. We are looking for a proactive candidate who will be managing the design process, client coordination and business development actions from our Bangkok studio to deliver multiple large-scale retail, office, hospitality and residential developments in South East Asia from concept to construction. You should already be in a position of responsibility within an architectural organization and familiar with multi-tasking and management duties. Good command of English is required.

Job Description / Responsibilities:

  • Take responsibility for the organisation of the work, team and resources for the successful delivery of the projects.
  • Meet deadlines and ensure quality is achieved on projects.
  • Provide assistance to the Directors for implementing the strategies and lines of action defined for SEA.
  • Ensure that the team is focused on achieving high-quality design, using international standards and delivering to targets.
  • Coordinate any specific demands from clients with the rest of the consultants and technical teams.
  • Assist with client requests, preparation of proposals and marketing and business development actions.
  • Facilitate and organise presentations and design submissions for potential new projects.
  • Review project progress, design elements, technical drawings, construction details and specifications and supervise quality regularly and periodically.
  • Search for project leads and market information and identify potential opportunities.
  • Establish regular contact with relevant agents, operators and consultants. Attend relevant property seminars and networking events.

Candidate qualification:

  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture or related fields.
  • Min 8-10 years' experience in International Projects or large scale developments.
  • Good design principles, clear communication and attractive presentation skills are essential.
  • Strong advanced computer design skills. Ability to use Revit, AutoCAD, Sketch Up, Photoshop and InDesign.
  • Knowledge of parametric design or form-finding skills with Revit and Rhino would be an advantage. 
  • Tracking latest design trends and a passion for design quality and excellence. Knowledge of latest world innovations and developments in the design industry.
  • Previous experience in Asia and familiarity with regional culture and business protocols is highly desirable.
  • Personable, articulate, presentable and collaborative with a proven track record of developing strong client relationships and securing repeated service.
  • Strong leadership, self-organisation and coordination skills. High integrity, problem solving abilities and the use of initiative.
  • Commercial office, hospitality, residential and/or retail experience preferred.
  • Good command of both spoken and written English.

This is an exciting opportunity to carry out business development whilst performing a key design role. Proven design credentials at master-planning, concept and scheme design within the Residential Sector plus having led major projects in the UK are essential.
