A cultural capital

Chapman Taylor has designed a transformative new masterplan for the historic city of Shusha, a place long celebrated as a cultural capital for its poetry, music, and art.

The masterplan respects and evolves the original street pattern, creating 12 distinct districts to accommodate a population of 25,000 people while retaining Shusha’s unique urban character.

Heritage-led, future-focused

Shusha’s new vision is rooted in its heritage yet designed for the next generation. Envisioned as a smart, green, and walkable 15-minute city, the plan integrates modern infrastructure, sustainable transport, and high-quality public spaces, enhancing liveability and connectivity.

Set amid stunning mountain landscapes, Shusha will once again be a thriving tourist destination. The city will offer access to mountain trails, and cultural attractions, cementing its role as a centre of arts, heritage, and hospitality.

The goal is to create a sustainable city that will endure the test of time, and secure Shusha’s place as a world-class cultural and civic landmark
