Riedel Wine Bar won the 2018 ICSC VIVA Global Award for Small Format Retail. This made Riedel wine bar & cellar the best designed (small) shop/leisure outlet in a shopping centre anywhere in the world in 2018.

Heritage and refinement combined

Set in one of Bangkok’s long standing luxury malls, Riedel Wine Bar and Cellar intends to be the ultimate destination for wine lovers in South East Asia and beyond.

The first wine bar and restaurant by the world-renowned Riedel glassware company, this high-profile project is a destination that balances functionality, refinement, Riedel brand heritage and high-quality design.

Enhancing the wine tasting experience

Our design team created a concept for the interior design featuring private pockets of luxuriously furnished corners, helping enhance the customers' wine tasting experience. The material palette makes use of brass, vintage leather and silky textiles.

Bespoke interior features reference glass making techniques

The approach included references to the heritage of the Riedel brand as well as the industrial processes involved in glass making.

The design features custom iron fittings, bespoke lighting fixtures referencing glass blowing techniques, as well as mesh panels originating from glass-making factories.

Chapman Taylor was responsible for space planning and interior design, creating a series of different areas – a private room, a terrace, a retail area with a wine-tasting corner and a restaurant with a small bar and innovative ‘wine emotion’ machines

Chris has been at Chapman Taylor since 1979 and has played a major role in the expansion of the practice as a global design studio with particular responsibility for the strategic direction of the international business.

Chris is fully involved in leading the design of projects and has worked on many different types and sizes of buildings in over 70 countries, and is motivated by the creation of sustainable new city masterplans that are responsive and relevant to the location. He believes architectural design is a carefully managed and collaborative process that draws inspiration from the brief, the function, and the place.
