Reimagining retail

Chapman Taylor is progressing the comprehensive refurbishment of La Gavia Shopping Centre in Madrid, reimagining the destination that receives 13 million visitors annually as a contemporary, people-focused environment that responds to the needs of a growing urban community in the southeast of the city.

A key social and commercial hub

The project aims to refresh the centre’s identity while reinforcing its role as a key social and commercial hub for surrounding residential neighbourhoods. Chapman Taylor has led the scheme from initial concept through to detailed design, execution and site management, ensuring a cohesive vision across all stages of delivery.

Creating a more experiential destination

At the heart of the proposal is a reinterpretation of the traditional shopping centre model, transforming La Gavia into a more open, connected and experiential destination. The design introduces a timeless architectural language, carefully balancing volumes, spatial rhythm and material quality to create brighter, more welcoming and highly functional spaces.

Bringing new life to La Gavia Shopping Centre

Sustainability is key

Sustainability is embedded throughout the project, with the use of certified materials, low water consumption planting and passive design strategies to improve environmental performance and long-term efficiency.
