Baan Phraya celebrates the depth and character of traditional Thai cuisine in the atmospheric setting of a beautiful 120-year-old historic Thai house, creating an intimate dining experience that reflects both the building's heritage and the standards of one of the world's most established luxury hotels.

Chapman Taylor’s design approach began with the existing Baan Phraya house's architecture and character.
Rather than treating the historic building simply as a backdrop, the design uses its architecture as the foundation for the dining experience. The restoration reveals and celebrates the house's original character, while carefully considered contemporary interventions meet the operational and experiential needs of a modern restaurant.

The team carefully sourced materials from artisans and specialist craftspeople across Thailand, bringing together traditional techniques and natural textures with contemporary applications.
Bespoke furniture, fabrics, wall coverings and decorative elements were also designed and produced specifically for Baan Phraya and Mandarin Oriental Bangkok. Together, these elements give the interiors a distinctive identity while celebrating the richness and diversity of Thai craftsmanship.
