Construction work underway on Grozny Mall in Chechnya, Russia
Work has begun on Grozny Mall, which will be the largest shopping and entertainment centre in the north Caucasus region of Russia. The first concrete has been poured into the development’s foundations, marking the start of a major building project which is expected to complete in 2019.
The ambitious scheme brings together famous retail brands within a 132,000m² floor-space. A hypermarket, food court and restaurants complement the retail offering, while leisure facilities include an IMAX cinema and a children’s entertainment area. Underground parking provides space for 1,000 cars.
Nearby, Kausar Park will be a landscaped area covering approximately 20 hectares, hosting a riverside development, an amphitheatre, pavilions, a Ferris wheel and children’s entertainment features.
Grozny Mall is anticipated to create 4,000 jobs upon completion, helping transform the economy of both the city and the wider region.
Chapman Taylor is responsible for the entire scheme’s design and delivery. We were recently appointed to take charge of designing the interior by Smart Building Development and Construction, for whom we designed the previous architectural and landscaping phases.
