Interiors: Our Riedel wine bar concept opens in Bangkok with further plans to launch in SE Asia

The Chapman Taylor Bangkok team has designed a flagship wine bar for the glassware brand, Riedel. The first wine bar and restaurant of its kind has now opened and aims to create the ultimate destination for wine lovers in South East Asia and beyond.

The Riedel wine bar concept plans to be rolled out across South East Asia and appear in airport terminals, shopping malls and hotels. The interior design concept takes inspiration from the heritage and craftsmanship of the Riedel brand as well as the industrial processes involved in glass making. Key design features have been incorporated such as the bespoke lighting fixtures that reference glass blowing techniques and luxurious brass mesh panels that are taken from the factories to give a glamourous touch by using brass as opposed to steel.

Chapman Taylor’s Bangkok studio first opened its doors four years ago and has since completed several high profile projects in the region and is now expanding its presence in South East Asia.

Current projects in Thailand include IKEA Westgate, Singha Estates residential development towers and the Malikha condominium project in Myanmar.

The studio has just completed the interiors for the iconic Ciao restaurant at Bangkok’s Mandarin Oriental Hotel which has been met with critical acclaim and provided masterplanning and Concept Architecture for Tesco’s pilot Plus Mall project that successfully opened it doors in 2015.

The studio has particular strengths in the Residential and Hospitality sectors as well as an experienced interior design team.

Last year saw the studio relocate our team of 20 architects and interior designers to a new and bigger premises and in 2016 we are looking to further expand the business, grow our interior department and our presence in Myanmar.
