Brent Cross reborn
A £1.4bn redevelopment of the existing Brent Cross shopping centre which will revitalise the retail offer with over 200 brands, and enable a thriving night-time economy through a new cinema complex and 40 new restaurants in a network of covered streets and spaces.
The project is a major extension and refurbishment to the existing Brent Cross shopping centre, which was the first out-of-town retail scheme in the UK.
A new 'living' garden bridge connects the scheme to the surrounding area
At the heart of Brent Cross will be a new town square hosting events and activities. The town square will be surrounded by multi-level retail that links to a restaurant and leisure quarter.
Our design links to the new town centre in the southern regeneration area via a landscaped civic space - ‘the living bridge’. The bridge will provide a connection between the two centres, whilst enabling an access route for pedestrians and cyclists over the North Circular Road.
To breathe new life into Brent Cross, Chapman Taylor developed a comprehensive mixed-use masterplan for the scheme, designed the living (garden) bridge and seven new buildings.
New retail, residential and transport links set around new streets and landscaping
As the first phase of the £4bn Cricklewood regeneration project, the transformed Brent Cross scheme will include 78,000m² of new shops, including a new department store, a new restaurant and leisure quarter, 600 homes, two parks, a hotel, new car parks and improvements to transport links, including a new world class bus station. These will be set around new streets, public realm and a riverside park along the River Brent.
Chapman Taylor has been co-ordinating multiple contractors on this complex project by using 3D BIM software, for which we won a key industry award in relation to costing.
The architects working on the scheme include Callison RTKL and Chapman Taylor.
