Take a look at the exciting leisure and retail experience coming to Axiom

A new video has been created to showcase the exciting vision for Axiom, a new type of retail and leisure destination near Castleford, West Yorkshire.

It outlines how Axiom will become a ‘brand playground’ – encouraging innovation and experimentation to create a new conception of the retail environment. The multisensory experience will include the UK’s largest purpose-built adventure destination, a wide array of food trucks, immersive digital displays and optimium connectivity.

Axiom will be a superbly located development, accessible directly from the M62 via Junction 32, and only one mile from the A1 and eight miles from the M1. 2.2 million people live within a 30-minute drive, with Leeds and Doncaster under 20 minutes away. With 1km of motorway frontage, Axiom will be a memorable landmark for the 90,000 vehicles which pass every day, and will be served by 3,000 smart parking spaces.

The centre will include 75 retail, leisure and F&B units, including leading names such as M&S, Next, Primark and Boots, complemented by the adjacent ‘Junction 32’ Designer Outlet centre and an XSCAPE leisure and entertainment area, one of only six in the UK.

The scheme is flexibly designed to allow for an ever-evolving mix of retail and leisure. State-of-the-art digital infrastructure will be used throughout the centre, including stunning LED screens and façades, the first of their type in the UK.

A new stadium will form part of the 43-hectare development as a venue for Castleford Tigers rugby league matches. Both the stadium and the commercial centre will sit within an 11-hectare country park.

Chapman Taylor is acting as Lead Architect on behalf of the Lateral Property Group and Highgrove Group. It is expected that the development, for which Reserved Matters Consent was recently granted, will create 1,100 construction jobs and, upon completion, 2,000 permanent retail jobs.
