New retail landmark planned for Dijon, France

Chapman Taylor has been appointed to design a new retail mall in the historic city centre of Dijon, France, which was recently listed as a World Heritage site by Unesco.

Set in a former mansion house that was used as offices for Dijon's local authorithies, the scheme will create 2300 square metres of new commercial and restaurant space across three floors.

Chapman Taylor has many years’ experience delivering schemes within heritage or historical settings. The maintenance and renewal of the physical fabric of historic towns involves a broad range of skills from strategic planning and detailed technical advice to the sensitive design of new buildings and the repair, alteration and extension of existing buildings. In all of these cases, Chapman Taylor aim to realise the most beneficial use for a building without compromising its character.

The project, called Cour Bareuzai (Bareuzai Court), is planned to start on site in 2018.
