Moscow’s Dream Island wins “Best Public Space” at 2017 Good Innovations Awards

Chapman Taylor is pleased to announce that the Dream Island development in central Moscow has won “Best Public Space” at the Russian Good Innovations 2017 Awards.

A major redevelopment of the Soviet-era Nagatino Park, Dream Island is designed as the first large-scale leisure destination in Russia, expected to be visited by up to four million people annually.

In addition to a large indoor amusement park, the river-fronted scheme provides a regional shopping centre, outdoor leisure facilities, an IMAX cinema, a 400-key 4-Star hotel, a 3,500-seat concert hall, a yacht club and F&B facilities. The central dome, the largest glass dome in Russia, uses cutting-edge technology which avoids the need for using lots of heavy metal trusses.

Using a concept design based upon the historic Kremlin architecture to be found in many ancient Russian cities, as well as upon Western Europe’s gothic architecture, Dream Island has a ‘wonderland’-style architectural theme. Landscape is carefully designed to weave nature into the urban fabric.

Chapman Taylor’s Moscow studio proposed the masterplan and concept design for Dream Island. The development, one of the largest social projects in Moscow, is currently being built with full support from both the government and the public.

Congratulations to everyone involved in bringing this extraordinary Moscow attraction to fruition!
