Europe: Chapman Taylor in high demand at MAPIC 2014

MAPIC - The international Retail property event

Chapman Taylor recently attended and exhibited at MAPIC in Cannes, France between the 19th and 21st of November.  

MAPIC is Europe’s leading retail estate exhibition, conference, and networking event. Celebrating its 20th anniversary, MAPIC was attended by circa 8,300 global participants including retailers, property developers and architects interested in: shopping centres, retail factory outlets, leisure areas and retail zones in transportation hubs.

As the leading architectural practice for retail design in Europe, Chapman Taylor attended MAPIC with an 18 strong team of retail design experts to showcase some of the many successful projects we have designed over the last year.

Key innovative projects showcased included:

Trinity Leeds, UK
Trinity is the winner of over 12 architectural awards and sets the new standard for Retail design in the UK. The scheme has attracted over 22 million consumers in its first year and is responsible for increasing visitors to Leeds by 2 million per year. Voted one of the UKs 2014 ‘CoolBrands’ by the centre for Brand Analysis, Trinity has elevated Leeds to the 6th top retail destination in the UK in 2013, from 7th place in 2012.

Global Harbor, Shanghai, China
Global Harbor is a multi award-winning scheme and the largest ever built project by Chapman Taylor. Opened in 2013, Global Harbor Shanghai is located in the central area of Shanghai on an important transportation hub. The scheme comprises a 270,000m² shopping centre and two 245 metre high office, hotel and apartment towers above a 4-storey podium.

Mall of Qatar, Doha, Qatar
Due to be completed at the end of 2015, Mall of Qatar will be a world-class retail, sports and entertainment destination. With a total build area of 388,000m², it is located 20 minutes from downtown Doha, at the intersection of Al Rayyan Highway and Celebration Road, adjacent to the popular Al Rayyan Sports Club and a future FIFA 2022 World Cup Stadium.

Europolis, St Petersburg, Russia
Opened in October 2014, Europolis has a total area of 141,700m², and is the largest retail facility of its kind to open in St. Petersburg for the past two years. Europolis comprises of four malls that reflect the attraction of LONDON - the most visited capital city of the world, the charm of PARIS - the capital of fashion, the eternal beauty of ROME and the untamed fantasy of BARCELONA, all of which has been focused within a common space designed by the ChapmanTaylor team.

Mega 2, Almaty, Kazakhstan
Opened to the public in November 2013, this innovative retail and leisure centre encompases an area of 78,000m². The scheme creates a very powerful retail hub in this part of Kazakhstan’s main commercial city and is expected to receive 15 million visitors in its first year of operation.
