Asset Enhancement: Chapman Taylor’s rejuvenated shopping centre opens its doors in Estonia

Chapman Taylor’s Associate Director, Ian Clarke, attended the opening of the newly refurbished shopping centre Tartu Kaubamaja in Estonia.

Tartu Kaubamaja is a leading fashion shopping centre situated in the centre of Tartu in Southern Estonia and has over 60 retailers and service providers. Chapman Taylor’s Interior team in London has rejuvinated and enhanced the interior of the centre so that it retains its position as one of the country’s leading destinations to shop.

During the thorough renovation of the centre, the utility systems, lighting, façades of the rental space, flooring and ceilings were all updated. In addition to the interior work, the exterior façade also received a facelift. The work completed at the centre encompassed a total space of 14,000 m², of this, 7,000 m² was commercial space with the other 7,000 m² being the parking garage. A unique artistic lighting scheme has been used at the malls entrance.

Interiors Director, Hilary Clayton-Mitchell commented: ‘We have updated and refreshed the look and feel of the existing shopping centre to ensure footfall steadily increases. We are seeing a growth in the number of shopping malls throughout Estonia and therefore it is important to remain ahead of the curve in terms of design and retail offer. No longer can they just be places to shop but also they must be aesthetically pleasing leisure destinations with cafes, restaurants and cinemas.
