Project Architect (Manchester)

INTRODUCTION

Chapman Taylor is an award-winning, AJ Top 100 practice, operating from 15 studios globally. Our Manchester studio, located in Bass Warehouse in the heart of Castlefield, provides a vibrant, creative work environment situated a short walk from Deansgate Station.

We are looking for a highly motivated, design-orientated architect with excellent design and presentation skills to join our Manchester studio. We are offering the chance to work in a dynamic studio environment, with the opportunity to develop your career while working on a range of high-profile and exciting projects, in both the UK and internationally.

Our Manchester studio is involved in all design stages from masterplanning and concept design through to technical design and delivery of projects on site. We place great emphasis on what we describe as ‘Responsible Design’, which looks beyond environmental sustainability and considers the wider socio-economic implications of all our projects, including the effect on the physical and mental well-being of those who inhabit and use the spaces we create. We are committed to continually improving the quality of our design and investing in new ideas for the future through our structured R&D programme.

THE CANDIDATE

The ideal candidate will be an ARB-registered Architect with a minimum of five years of post-qualification experience. You will enjoy working as part of a team and be able to lead and motivate others. You will have the opportunity to be actively involved in various R&D initiatives and research while performing a key design role.

Experience working on large-scale, mixed-use, projects across the residential, workplace, retail, and hospitality sectors is an advantage.

The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills and be able to confidently present their design ideas using a variety of media, including hand sketching.

  • Project Architect with minimum 5 years’ post-Part III experience
  • Excellent design skills and technical expertise across all RIBA work stages

  • Ability to present and communicate design narratives and concept design ideas confidently
  • Commitment to developing good quality design information with excellent attention to detail
  • Enjoy working as part of a team in a collaborative and supportive environment
  • Ability to work across multiple projects and effectively manage your time
  • Keen to contribute to extra-curricular studio activities, socials, and events
  • Proficient in Autodesk Revit, with a good working knowledge of Adobe packages and Enscape with the opportunity for advance training.
