Chapman Taylor is an award-winning, AJ Top 100 practice, operating from 15 studios globally. Our Manchester studio, located in Bass Warehouse in the heart of Castlefield, provides a vibrant, creative work environment situated a short walk from Deansgate Station.

Our Manchester studio is involved in all design stages from masterplanning and concept design through to technical design and delivery of projects on site. We place great emphasis on what we describe as ‘Responsible Design’, which looks beyond environmental sustainability and considers the wider socio-economic implications of all our projects, including the effect on the physical and mental wellbeing of those who inhabit and use the spaces we create. We are committed to continually improving the quality of our design and investing in new ideas for the future through our structured R&D programme.


We are looking for a highly motivated, enthusiastic and talented designer to join our Manchester team as a Part II Architectural Assistant. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills and be able to confidently present their design ideas using a range of media. With a wide range of exciting projects at various stages of design in both the UK and internationally, we are offering an opportunity to develop your professional experience and career with us. We offer a structured mentoring programme and a range of RIBA Part III initiatives to support our staff through the RIBA professional qualification process.

  • Keen to contribute to extra-curricular studio activities, socials and events
  • Participation in design team meetings and assisting with design presentations
  • Commitment to developing good quality design information with excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to present and communicate design ideas and concepts
  • Good working knowledge of Adobe packages, Revit (an advantage) and Photoshop
  • Design experience working in the residential, office and hotel sectors preferred
