Retail: Construction started at the regeneration of IGY Shopping Centre in České Budějovice

Our client, real estate investment company CPI Property Group has started the reconstruction and extension of its existing retail project the IGY Centre in České Budějovice in the Czech Republic.

The scheme involves the regeneration and modernisation of the existing IGY Shopping Centre plus the construction of a new building called IGY2 designed by local architects Atelier 8000.  Two skybridges have been designed to link the structures above Pekárenská street.

The expansion increases the existing commercial area from 8,000 m2 to more than 29,000 m2 of retail and leisure space with a total of 130 shops and 700 parking spaces. The scheme will trade be over two retail floors with a combination of shops, services and entertainment, as well as restaurants, cafes and a food court.  The reconstruction includes an extension housing a new 9 screen multiplex cinema.

The architecture of the original IGY building will be completely remodelled to provide a modern and architecturally exciting design.

The centre is planned to open in late 2017.
