Vanke Mall Sport Zone wins “Best Commercial Space, 2017” at the China Kinpan Awards

Chapman Taylor is proud to report that our design for Vanke Mall Sport Zone, in the Qibao district of Shanghai, China, has won “Best Commercial Space” at the 2017 China Kinpan Awards. The awards ceremony took place during the highly anticipated Kinpan China Real Estate Development Summit at Guanghzhou in late December.

Vanke Mall Sport Zone is an entertainment-led project located at the top of Vanke Mall shopping centre in the Qibao district of Shanghai. The 5,000m² area includes an NBA basketball half-court, a suspended roller-skating track, and a ‘9A’ climbing wall. The facilities are surrounded by major sports brand tenants such as Nike and Adidas as well as healthy F&B offers. Other tenants include a gym, a bowling alley and several more sports equipment retailers. The mix of tenants operating in this space makes Vanke Mall Sport Zone a comprehensive sports and entertainment destination in Shanghai.

The project previously won a Gold Award for “New Retail Design” at the 2017 ICSC China Retail Summit in Shanghai.

Kinpan Week, organised by Times Real Estate magazine, has been a prestigious event in the Chinese property industry calendar since 2006, celebrating the best property developments in the country. This year was the first in which there was a commercial space category at the Kinpan Awards.

The award for the Vanke Mall Sport Zone is the latest of several honours for Chapman Taylor’s work in China. Our extensive experience of commercial design in the country has included the vast mixed-use developments at Shanghai Global Harbor and Jiangnan Global Harbor, successful shopping centres such as Vanke 2049 in Pudong, Shanghai and Shenzhen Buji Fun, and sensitive refurbishments such as the landmark Shanghai No. 1 Department Store.

Congratulations to everyone involved in the design of Vanke Mall Sport Zone for this well-deserved award.
